COST SNAPSHOT

Start with a range. Then price the actual job.

Typical installed flooring spans roughly $2–$50+ per sq. ft. depending on material and project complexity. Use the calculator for a project-specific range.

FloorCalc planning data refreshed August 2026. See methodology and sources.

The number that matters is the total scope.

Product price alone can miss labor, tear-out, subfloor work, waste, stairs, transitions and finishing. FloorCalc exposes those items instead of burying them in one multiplier.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Flooring Cost Calculator FAQ

How do I estimate flooring cost?

Measure the floor area, add a material-appropriate waste allowance, then add material, installation labor, removal, preparation and finishing costs. FloorCalc performs those steps separately so you can see what is driving the total.

How much flooring do I need?

For rectangular rooms, multiply length by width. Add the areas for all rooms, then apply a waste factor. Straight plank layouts commonly need less waste than diagonal or patterned tile layouts.

Does FloorCalc include labor?

Yes. Choose Professional, DIY or Materials + some pro labor. You can also override the default material and labor rates if you already have a local quote.

Can I estimate a 12×12 room or 1,000 sq. ft. house?

Yes. Enter dimensions or switch to direct square-foot entry. The result shows project area, purchase area, installed cost per square foot and a low-to-high planning range.
